The Club at North Halton Chosen To Host 2024 Canadian Women’s Senior Golf Championship, presented by BDO
Georgetown, Ontario, February 1, 2024

The Board of Directors, the members and staff of The Club at North Halton (NH) are very proud to announce NH has been chosen by Golf Canada to host the 2024 Canadian Women’s Senior Championship, presented by BDO, August 26-29, 2024. “National championships are important to the sport of golf in Canada and to be chosen by Golf Canada to host one is quite an honour,” said NH general manager, Hendrick van der Geld. “We expect a full field for this tournament which means 156 golfers will come to experience our wonderful club, and golf course, while also enjoying all that the Halton Hills community has to offer.” van der Geld continued.

The Canadian Women’s Senior Championship, presented by BDO, attracts the top senior women golfers from across Canada who will travel to our community to compete. Defending champion, former Georgetown resident and honorary member of NH, Mary Ann Hayward from St. Thomas will be back to defend her title as well as former champions Shelly Stouffer from Nanoose Bay, BC, Helene Chartrand from Pincourt, QC and Jackie Little from Proctor, BC plus Ontario locals and former winners Judith Kyrinis from Thornhill and Terrill Samuel from Etobicoke are just a few notables who are expected to register for the championship. Competitors also come from outside Canada. Countries including the U.S., Australia, Great Britain and China have all been represented over the years. Sue Wooster from Australia is a two-time winner of the championship.

“Golf Canada is extremely excited to have The Club at North Halton host the 2024 Canadian Women’s Senior Championship, presented by BDO. The players are certainly going to experience a first-class event and hospitality experience as the membership and Committee of NH has embraced the championship whole heartedly. We cannot wait to crown a champion on the picturesque 18th green after 54 holes of competition.” commented Dan Hyatt, Senior Manager, Amateur Championships & Rules at Golf Canada.

Admission is free all week for spectators who wish to follow their favourite players for practice or tournament rounds and to watch some great golf played by students of the game. A popular viewing location is behind the par 3, 18th green as players hit the final tee shots of their round over a large pond that separates the tee and green.

The Club at North Halton is located at 363 Maple Avenue, Georgetown, ON. Spectator parking will be in designated off property locations, please watch for Public Parking signs that will be visible on roads leading to the course.
